Autodesk University 2026: Civil 3D begins connecting to Forma

At Autodesk University in Las Vegas, 15 to 17 September 2026, Autodesk said Civil 3D is becoming a Forma connected client, so infrastructure work can move from planning through engineering in one environment, with a shared geolocation engine keeping position consistent across Forma, Revit and Civil 3D. A live demonstration showed a civil engineer redesigning a detention pond and sharing the change into a Forma project. The capability starts as a Tech Preview rather than a released feature.

WHY IT MATTERS

Let me explain

If you work on infrastructure, the part worth noticing is the shared geolocation engine. A project whose coordinates differ between Forma, Revit and Civil 3D is a known source of rework on roads and drainage, and one engine across the three removes that class of error rather than catching it later. The connected client itself is a Tech Preview, so nothing changes in your week: what changes is what to expect at the next licence renewal, and whether your team's handover between planning and detailed design is still worth doing by export and import.
