Let me explain
The facade takes its cue from the Norfolk pines along this coast: just as the pinecone protects its seeds from bad weather and opens in the right conditions, the sliding timber screens protect residents or open up to the sun and the sea. The 10-storey building holds 15 apartments, including two dual-level penthouses with private rooftop pools, on a 1,012 square-metre site. Its overlapping curved balconies shade the spaces below, and every apartment is arranged for natural cross ventilation. In 2022 it won the Australian Institute of Architects Queensland award for Multiple Housing.
