Riyadh Region Municipality stresses contracting with an approved waste transporter licensed by the National Center for Waste Management (MWAN), and moving excavation output and construction waste to approved landfills.

WHY IT MATTERS

Let me explain

Under the Ministry's requirements for disposing of construction, demolition and renovation waste, the designing engineering office estimates waste quantities when the building permit is issued, and the supervising engineering office verifies the contract with an MWAN-licensed transporter, adds it to the start-of-works report, and documents the transfer of waste to approved disposal sites in the end-of-works report. A joint inspection campaign by the Municipality and MWAN, with Riyadh Region Emirate, recorded 38 violations in north Riyadh: 18 within MWAN's remit and 20 traffic violations (Riyadh Region Municipality, 20 October 2026).
