WHY IT MATTERS

Let me explain

The centre carries out the infrastructure responsibilities of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, the Riyadh Region Municipality and the region's municipalities. It sets the detailed comprehensive master plan for infrastructure in coordination with the relevant bodies, issues licences and permits, and carries out monitoring and inspection. Its scope covers telecommunications, energy, water, sewage and roads projects. For engineers, the centre launched the Infrastructure Projects Code, with unified standards for government bodies, contractors, consultants, laboratories and service providers, which came into force in August 2025. The rules for licence and permit procedures for infrastructure works in the Riyadh Region were also published in the Umm Al-Qura gazette. The stated goal is to raise the standard of infrastructure works, improving quality of life and the urban landscape and making spending more efficient.
