WHY IT MATTERS

Let me explain

The contract, known as Package 2 (Groups 2 and 3), is part of RCRC's urgent bridges programme under the wider project to build steel bridges at 10 junctions across Riyadh, with a 12-month execution timeline. It covers seven intersections: Al-Khair Road with King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Road; Prince Turki Road with Imam Saud Road; Al-Takhassosi Road with Saeed Al-Sulami Road; Khurais Road with Al-Hareth Bin Abdullah Road, Ash-Sharq Road and Marmar Road; and Al-Kharj Road with Al-Hilla Road. The flyovers total 8.86 kilometres, excluding the Al-Kharj Road and Al-Hilla Road junction. Besides the structural steel superstructures, concrete foundations, decks and approach ramps, the scope includes retaining walls, utility diversions, temporary phased traffic arrangements, roadworks, drainage, roadway lighting, intelligent transportation systems and landscaping. Other bidders included Masco, Nesma & Partners, Al-Omaier Trading & Contracting Company, Yuksel Saudia, Batco, Modern Building Leaders and Sapac. The programme aims to ease congestion on central and ring-road corridors ahead of Expo 2030 and the 2034 FIFA World Cup (MEED, 16 October 2026).
