WHY IT MATTERS

Let me explain

The project is an urban road about 3 km long with a right-of-way about 120 metres wide. It includes three interchanges with post-tensioned voided-slab concrete bridges, a cut-and-cover tunnel and three box culverts, plus pumping and lifting stations, stormwater drainage and irrigation networks, earthworks, asphalt paving, road lighting, power distribution, mechanically stabilised earth retaining walls and landscaping. In May 2026 another 12 km section, from Khurais Road to Al-Thumama Road, was awarded for an estimated SAR 5 billion to Al-Rashid Trading & Contracting and Turkiye's IC Ictas as part of Riyadh's Second Eastern Ring Road. The value is MEED's estimate; RCRC has not announced the value, duration or start date (MEED, 22 October 2026).
