Red Sea Global opens Grand Hyatt The Red Sea on Shura Island with 430 rooms, suites and villas

Red Sea Global has opened Grand Hyatt The Red Sea on Shura Island, with 430 rooms, suites and villas and the destination's largest purpose-built events venue: more than 2,400 square metres of function space, including a 1,390 square metre grand ballroom, a 683 square metre junior ballroom, conference rooms and outdoor event venues.

WHY IT MATTERS

Let me explain

The resort adds indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness centre, the Ethereal Spa with 10 treatment rooms, Camp Hyatt and spaces for teenagers. It sits near Shura Marina, which has 159 berths for yachts up to 125 metres, and La Guérite restaurant and beach club. The Red Sea destination is now welcoming guests at 12 luxury resorts (Saudi Press Agency, Red Sea Global).

Cenomi Centers signs SAR 825 million contract with Lynx Contracting to design and build the mall and offices at Madinah Downtown

Cenomi Centers (Arabian Centres Co.) has signed a design and build contract with Lynx Contracting for the mall and office components of Madinah Downtown, a project of Saudi Downtown Company, a PIF company. Architecture series, episode 13: Sharaan Resort in AlUla by Jean Nouvel

A resort being carved into a 500-million-year-old mountain in AlUla's Sharaan Nature Reserve, designed by Jean Nouvel for the Royal Commission for AlUla, with 38 suites, a fine-dining restaurant atop the mountain and a glass elevator through ancient sedimentary layers. It is under construction.

How it was built: the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in Japan, 1,991 metres between two towers and one of the world's longest suspension bridges

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge crosses the Akashi Strait between Kobe and Awaji Island. It is 3,911 metres long over three spans of 960, 1,991 and 960 metres, with towers about 300 metres high, making it one of the world's longest suspension bridges. On-site construction ran from 1 May 1988 until it opened to traffic on 5 April 1998.
